Sheila Dillon to present farm welfare awards
This year’s Compassion in World Farming (CiWF) Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards will be hosted by food journalist and BBC Radio 4 presenter Sheila Dillon.
Dillon, who hosts the BBC’s ‘The Food Programme’, will take to the stage in Paris on Wednesday 30 October at the Salle Wagram.
She said: “Over three decades as a food journalist I’ve come to value and admire CiWF. Their research stands up to tough analysis.”
The presenter also praised Compassion’s work on behalf of the farming system and said she was delighted when she was asked to host the awards.
Dr Tracey Jones, director of food business at CiWF, meanwhile, said: “We are extremely pleased that Sheila has agreed to host our awards. She is a hugely respected and well known figure in the world of food journalism and I hope that her involvement will help to raise the profile of our Awards and of higher-welfare food options to a wider consumer audience.”
This is the sixth year the awards have been in existence and event organisers have promised the 2013 awards to be “bigger and better than ever”.
