Scotch Beef and Lamb on show at Anuga

Next week the world’s largest food fair Anuga will play host to Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb.

Nine exporters of Scottish produce will attend the event in Cologne, Germany, where Quality Meat Scotland’s (QMS’) stand will sell the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status of Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb to potential customers.

The fair runs from October 5-9 and QMS said it will use the platform to underpin the provenance and welfare of Scotch meat.

It is expected the exhibition will host 155,000 trade visitors from 180 countries across 284,000m² of floor-space.

QMS head of marketing Laurent Vernet said Anuga offered a valuable opportunity for the Scotch brand to reinforce itself in the world market.

“Every major meat exporter in the world is in Cologne during this week. It is therefore very important that Scotland’s exporters have a strong presence at the show, highlighting what sets Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb apart from competitors in terms of quality and reputation,” he said.

“Scottish exporters have been making excellent progress in growing the market for Scotch Beef and Lamb, which now enjoys strong trade awareness on the continent.”
