Barney Kay moves from NFU to Moy Park

Barney Kay has been appointed general manager of broilers for Moy Park Great Britain (GB), moving from the National Farmers’ Union.

Kay will be responsible for Moy Park’s GB operations, which are currently producing more than 2.5m chickens a week for the company’s processing sites in Anwick, Lincolnshire and Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

David Gibson, general director of agriculture at Moy Park, said he was pleased to announced the appointment of Kay, who has had more than 15 years’ experience in the agriculture industry. “Across the agri-food sector, Barney has an outstanding reputation and a strong track record of delivering results. His combination of experience and knowledge of the food industry will prove invaluable in his new role.”

Meanwhile, of his appointment, Kay said: “As a business, Moy Park is recognised as one of the leading food companies in Europe and is widely known for its commitment to its farming base. Moy Park has pioneered breeding and farming standards, particularly in the development of higher-welfare chicken, and I look forward to working with the team to continue to lead the way in the industry.”
