Pukka pockets slice trial in Asda and Tesco
Pie producer Pukka Pies is taking a piece of the slice category with the launch of its new ‘Pukka Pockets’, a filled pasty-style pastry.
The pie brand, which recently celebrated its 50th year in the pie industry this year, has the pockets on trial in Asda and Tesco stores. Pukka decided to move into the slice category after an “extensive” UK-wide research programme with consumers.
According to the company, the pockets will be made using traditional Pukka Pie fillings, can be eaten hot or cold and are available in chicken & mushroom, all steak, and chicken Balti flavours.
Co-managing director Tim Storer said: “We are very excited about the launch of Pukka Pockets and the feedback from both the retailers and consumers so far has been superb.
“Pukka Pockets are made using exactly the same ingredients as our Pukka Pies and are perfect as part of a meal or eaten on the go.”
