Welsh Lamb takes centre stage at rugby gala dinner

Last weekend the Rugby League World Cup kicked off in Cardiff, with Welsh Lamb featuring at a pre-tournament gala dinner.

More than 250 guests from 14 competing nations tucked into a meal that included Welsh Lamb in the main course, which delighted the Welsh red meat promotion agency Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC).

"We are delighted to be able to supply the Welsh Lamb for this most prestigious of dinners," said Gwyn Howells, chief executive of HCC before the meal. "Players, officials and VIPs from across the rugby league world will be in Cardiff and will have the opportunity to taste the very best food produced in Wales.

"HCC is proud to play its part for Wales, showing off the skills of its farmers and processors in producing what is the world’s premium lamb brand."
