Tesco to raise fresh meat supply in deal with Hilton
Tesco will increase its supply of packed fresh meat in the UK with a new multi-million-pound deal with Hilton Foods.
The deal, which was announced today and will run until February 2019, will see Hilton supply the supermarket chain from its Huntington facility. As part of the agreement, Hilton will invest in new technology at the site, the benefits of which are predicted to reach their full potential in 2015.
Commenting on the agreement Robert Watson, CEO of Hilton Food Group, said: “This is an exciting development for Hilton. We are proud to have formed a strong, long-lasting partnership with Tesco and we will continue to work closely with them to supply products of the highest quality to their customers.”
City analyst Darren Shirley of Shore Capital said that, in addition to Hilton’s UK investment, the company would pump funds into a Swedish facility, which would bring the combined investment total to around £30m.
