YDMC supplies BBC Sports dinner

Yorkshire Dales Meat Company (YDMC) supplied larder-trimmed beef to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2013 dinner at Leeds Arena on Sunday (15 December).

The beef was supplied to sports personalities such as Mo Farah, Chris Froome, Leigh Halfpenny, AP McCoy and Christine Ohuruogu by the family-run catering butchers.

YDMC supplies the venue regularly and Leeds Arena’s executive chef Paul Robinson selected the beef to be the main course at the dinner.

Speaking before the event, finance director at YDMC James Knox said: “To be supplying meat to be enjoyed by some of the greatest Olympians we’ve ever known, arguably the greatest jockey of all time, the star of this year’s Lions tour and the current Tour de France champion? Wow, what an honour that is for us as a business.

“It’s also great to see one of the year’s most-loved and -watched BBC programmes taking place in Leeds and at the fantastic new venue that is Leeds Arena. Chef Paul Robinson and his team are doing a great job there, and we’re glad to be able to support them.”

Supplier to north of England restaurants, hotels, event venues and catering companies, YDMC’s meat comes from naturally fed, traditionally-reared livestock from its Wensleydale farm.

Knox added: “We know that Mo Farah in particular loves a burger when he gets the chance to have one, so we’re pretty confident he’ll enjoy this most succulent of beef cuts.”
