Reiser back personality award for SuperMeat

The Meat Industry Personality of the Year will once more be revealed at the SuperMeat & Fish Awards 2008.

This year's award is being supported by leading machinery supplier Reiser UK and MTJ is now calling for your nominations for the title.

Last year saw Brian Haigh, former Asda meat buyer, walk away with the prize, beating off competition from a number of industry heavyweights. This year, the awards are looking for another high-profile line-up of personalities and we are calling on the industry to put their favourites forward.

To nominate your personality of the year, send your entry in via email to mtj.news@william-reed.co.uk, or to the editor at Meat Trades Journal, William Reed Business Media, Broadfield Park, Crawley, W Sussex, RH11 9RT.

Peter Mellon, MD of Reiser UK, said: "As a leading equipment supplier to the meat industry we believe that the leaders of the industry should be recognized and this award does just that."

Product judging for the awards is now complete, and judges will soon be embarking on the next round of judging, looking at the stores.

The awards, which take place at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London, on 3 July, celebrate the best in multiple meat retailing, from the products to the stores, with one retailer being named the overall SuperMeat Retailer of the Year.

Taking part in this year's competition are Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Waitrose, Somerfield, The Co-operative Group and Marks & Spencer.

Also returning to our 2008 awards will be our Head Office Initiative of the Year alongside the Meat Personality of the Year.

The awards are being sponsored by the Livestock & Meat Commission, EBLEX, HCC - Meat Promotion Wales, the Danish Bacon & Meat Council, BPEX, Bord Bía and the Vion Food Group.

Do not forget to book your table for the year's most exciting awards show. Contact Liz Ellis on 01293 846593, or email her on elizabeth.ellis@william-reed.co.uk.
