Obituary: Roger Long

It was with great sadness that former colleagues at Lucas Ingredients learnt of the death of Roger Long on Friday 25 August.

Over the 25 years that Roger worked with Lucas until his retirement in 1996, he rose to the position of Senior Meat Technologist, travelling all over the UK to work directly with customers in the butchery trade.

He was mostly involved in the cured and cooked meat sector, although he was skilled in all aspects of meat product manufacture.

He continued to work as a consultant for Lucas until February of this year and he will be sadly missed by his colleagues past and present. He was highly respected throughout the industry.

Roger leaves a widow, Jane and two grown sons, Graham and Stephen.
