Rotten meat deaths
Rotten meat has been blamed for the death of seven Iraqi policemen and the poisoning of hundreds more.
The defence ministry said about 400 were taken ill after eating the meat at a training camp near Kut, south of the capital Baghdad. However, it has been reported that officers at the base said 1,300 were ill.
According to reports, Iraqi staff at the base claimed their food budget has been cut by 50% and recruits were fed poor quality food. Victims were flooding into the local hospital, they said.
Reports also state the man in charge of the mess hall has been arrested.
