FMD suspected in animal in Solihull

This afternoon Defra put a Temporary Control Zone around a premises in Solihull after an animal showed clinical symptoms of Food and Mouth Disease.

This afternoon Defra put a Temporary Control Zone around a premises in Solihull after an animal showed clinical symptoms of Food and Mouth Disease.

Defra said the move was a precautionary measure following an assessment of clinical symptoms by Animal Health veterinary staff of one animal in a herd of cattle. It is currently awaiting laboratory results.

Defra added at this stage disease has not been confirmed.
