Police Believe Scots Meat Fire Was Arson
Published:  29 November, 2007

Police and fire investigators believe a fire at a major Scottish meat plant was started deliberately.

The blaze at the Scotch Premier Meat factory on North Street in Inverurie is estimated to have caused thousand of pounds in damage.

Offices and storage buildings were damaged but management at the plant said that disruption to production was kept to a minimum and supplies to the Christmas market will not be affected.

A police spokesman said: "This is a particularly senseless act which has resulted in a considerable value of damage to a commercial property in the town.

I have no doubt that the community of Inverurie will be disgusted by this incident and I appeal to them to provide us with the information needed to assist us in tracing those responsible and put an end to such behaviour before someone is hurt."
