Scots prepare for battle

Scottish butchers are limbering up in preparation for a battle of butchery skills this weekend.

Some of the countrys most talented butchers will go head to head at the finals of the Meat Skills Competition at this years Scottish Federation of Meat Traders Association (SFMTA) Scottish Meat Trades Fair, which is taking place at the Dewards Centre, Perth on Sunday.

June Lomax, independent retailers manager for QMS said: The competition gives Scotlands butchers the chance to show off the skill and creativity that is the hallmark of modern independent butchers.

They will all be working on the same cuts to try and out-do their competitors to produce the best display, which will then be judged by some of the most respected and experienced butchers in the business.

The winners in the under 22 and over 22 categories will win a prize of 500 and a trophy each, whilst other finalists will win 100.
