The awards, which take place on 2 July at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London, are now in their 10th year, and the competition shows no sign of letting up.
Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, the Co-operative and Mark & Spencer are all vying to take home some of the industry’s top awards, in a competition that aims to highlight excellence in meat and fish retailing.
Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, which organises the awards, said: “We’ve finished the product judging and the standard of entries was superb – the judges are now starting to look at the stores and early reports are that the competition is going to be tough.
“It’s great that, even after 10 years, the SuperMeat & Fish Awards continue to attract top-quality entries and such strong competition – it should guarantee an exciting night in July.”
This year’s competition, in which both stores and products are judged, with one retailer being declared the overall SuperMeat Retailer of the Year, will be hosted by former GMTV and Sky News presenter Eamonn Holmes. Other awards will be handed out for Head Office Initiative of the Year, Best Overall Product and Most Innovative Product.
