Last week of voting for SuperMeat personality

29 May, 2009

Voting is going strong for the SuperMeat & Fish Awards’ Meat Personality of the Year title, but time is running out to make your choice.

Voting closes this Friday, 5 June, with the winner revealed on the evening of 2 July at the awards at the Hilton, Park Lane, London.

Four strong candidates are vying for the title this year; Asda buyer Jim Viggars, EBLEX’s outgoing chief executive Richard Lowe, 2 Sisters’ Andrew Maunder and Cranswick’s Bernard Hoggarth.

Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, which organises the awards, said: “We’ve got a very strong field for our Meat Personality of the Year and the votes are pouring in – but don’t forget that every vote counts, so I’d urge you all to vote for your preferred winner.”

The SuperMeat & Fish Awards are now in their 10th year and recognise excellence in meat and fish retailing. Awards are given for both products and stores and, at the end of the night, one retailer will be declared the overall SuperMeat Retailer of the Year.

The awards will also see the return of our popular Head Office Initiative of the Year and new categories have also been introduced to the product awards, including Best Sustainable Product and Best Value Product.

Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, The Co-operative and Marks & Spencer are taking part in this year’s event, and with an impressive field of entries, the competition is set to be as exciting as ever.

This year’s SuperMeat & Fish Awards are being sponsored by BPEX, Bord Bía, EBLEX, Vion and HCC – Meat Promotion Wales.
