Are you a local legend? Well, are you?

Butchers could be in with a chance of a free computer after a website promoting small businesses announced it is looking for a firm that qualifies as a Small Business Local Legend.

Smallbusiness.co.uk has teamed up with Insurantz.com to offer a small business the chance of winning computer equipment up to 500, plus 1,000 of business insurance courtesy of Insurantz.

Site editor Marc Barber said: "Often relying on innovative thinking and operating to a tight cash flow, it's the smaller companies that will revitalise the economy. By identifying the very best entrepreneurs, the Local Legends competition recognises and celebrates all that is good about business in the UK today."

If your business has proven itself over a number of years, or if you know of a great local business and think it should be entered, then Small Business wants to hear about it.

A judging panel will draw up a shortlist of entrants for voting to decide who will become the Small Business Local Legend.

Chief executive of the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies George Derbyshire, who is backing the competition, said: "At a time when the news is dominated by the problems of big business, it's important we remember - and celebrate - the contribution the 4.5 million small businesses make to communities up and down the country."
