Accles & Shelvoke brings out versatile dispatch kit

Accles & Shelvoke has launched a new universal dispatch kit aimed at veterinarians, government agencies and farmers that have a requirement to euthanise animals of various species.

The CASH dispatch kit combines the techniques of controlled blunt-force trauma and penetrating captive bolt into a euthanasia system. It can be used to euthanise a range of species, from small animals such as poultry through to extremely large animals such as bulls.

The kit includes a heavy-duty captive bolt device, with interchangeable bolt assemblies and different strength powerloads, as well as maintenance tools. The kit is colour-coded and includes a quick reference guide to help users select the right adaptors. It comes in a portable carry case.

The company claims that the kit is "the first commercially available product that has proven itself as a humane, effective and reliable euthanasia system."

Accles & Shelvoke business development manager Michael Wiesner said the kit has proven popular in the US and various European countries, where government agencies were considering what they might do in the case of a mass cull, for example for an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.
