Breaking News: Paterson takes over at Defra, Paice sacked

Number 10 has confirmed the news that Owen Paterson is taking over the role of Secretary of State for Defra, while reports suggest farming minister Jim Paice has been sacked.

North Shropshire MP Paterson, formerly the Northern Ireland secretary, takes over from Caroline Spelman following the cabinet reshuffle.

Unconfirmed reports suggest Paice will be replaced by David Heath, MP for Somerton and Frome.
