Telford butcher introduces stock track app
A family-run butcher in Telford has launched an app to help staff track the movement of stock coming into the shop and identify exactly where it’s come from.
G N Badley & Sons, in Trench, developed the app in association with Telford-based Midland Computers, after the success of its website and online ordering system, which was launched in 2012.
Over the next few months, additional features will be added to the app, including details on when meat comes into the shop, what it gets made into and when it is sold. There will also be a storage temperature log and cleaning records.
“It is environmentally friendly because it does away with a lot of paperwork, and it also means we can easily answer customers’ questions quickly when they ask about where their meat comes from or when a product will be in stock,” said managing director Simon Badley.
“In this increasingly fast-moving society, small family businesses need to keep up and offer what will best suit the customers’ needs.”
The business, which is almost 40 years old, hopes in future to make a mobile version that will enable people to order meat from their smartphones.
