QMS appoints knowledge transfer specialist
Michael Blanche has been appointed to Quality Meat Scotland’s (QMS) industry development team, as knowledge transfer specialist.
Blanche will be tasked with improving the efficiency, productivity and profitability of beef and lamb supply for the Scottish red meat processing industry.
QMS’s new specialist is 44 and farms at Culteuchar Farm near Perth. He has built up a flock of Wiltshire Horn cross Texels, Lleyns and Scottish Blackfaces. He previously worked as QMS’s Scottish sheep strategy development officer, an SAC agricultural adviser and an independent farm consultant.
Johnny Mackey, QMS head of industry development, said: “Michael brings with him a wide range of experience, as well as a great passion for Scottish farming, and I am delighted to welcome him to the team.
“Michael will play an important role in the successful delivery of our programme of grassroot activities aimed at improving the efficiency, sustainability and confidence of the Scottish red meat industry.”
