Eblex outlines export conference details

Food and Farming Minister George Eustice will present this year’s Eblex export conference, set to address the opportunities and challenges facing the industry.

Eustice will open the conference, which will see talks from industry experts. Rémi Fourrier, Eblex export manager in France, will provide an insight into UK meat’s position in the French market. Meanwhile, Victoria Santini, head of Asia for the Institute of Grocery Distribution, will deliver a talk on premium meat retailing in Asia. Other presentations include the effectiveness of beef marketing by Jan Lawrence, chief executive of Standard Fleisch.

Eblex export manager Jean-Pierre Garnier said: “We are delighted that the Minister is joining us at what has grown over the last decade to become a key fixture in the industry’s calendar.

Garnier added: “Driving export growth is one of the cornerstones of Eblex’s strategy. By working in collaboration with Defra, UKTI and other industry stakeholders, we have helped gain access to 101 markets for lamb and 92 for beef, and considerably increased the value of meat exports over the past few years. The Minister’s support underpins not only what we have helped achieve for the industry to date, but also the future export ambitions that we hope to bring to fruition.”

The conference, which is free to levy payers, will be held on 25 June 2014 at Stoneleigh Park.
