There is just over a month to go before we announce this year’s winner of the SuperMeat & Fish Awards and the competition is starting to hot up.

Judges are finishing up on the store round of judging and final scores are being totted up before our guest presenter Myleene Klass reveals our winners at the Park Lane Hilton, London, on 10 July.

Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, which organises the event, said: “We’re nearly all done on the judging for this year’s prestigious awards and it’s going to be a close-run thing to pick out our overall winners this year; the entries have all been extremely strong.

“These awards provide the ultimate platform for the multiple sector to showcase their meat and fish offering and only the very best will succeed.”

Competing for the overall title in this year’s event are Tesco, Morrisons, Asda and Marks & Spencer, while also lining up against them in the product categories are Aldi, Lidl and The Co-operative Group.

The competition recognises excellence across the multiple retail meat and fish sector and will see the retailers compete across both product and store categories to take home awards. It sees products exhaustively assessed by a panel of expert and consumer judges, while stores are visited the length and breadth of the UK and judged against their rivals. Participants are also given an authoritative feedback report on how their products and stores have performed.

Also taking place at this year’s SuperMeat & Fish Awards, will be the announcement of this year’s winner of the Tri-Nations butchery competition, which takes place earlier in the day.

The awards are sponsored by Bpex, Eblex, Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales, the Livestock & Meat Commission Northern Ireland, Tönnies and Seafish.
