Rise in online sales of pork
Bpex has welcomed reports that online sales for pork have increased, highlighting that pork purchasers are using modern purchasing methods.
Bpex reported a 21% rise in “both value and volume” of online sales, which it said could be down to the price of pork remaining relatively flat for the past year, according to Kantar Worldpanel. In particular, grilling and frying cuts, such as chops and steaks, are proving popular online.
Bpex director Mick Sloyan said: “These are good results overall and show a small, but growing market. Modern purchasers are purchasing in a modern way and it is good to see pork is part of that.
“It is also good to see above-average growth from a number of retailers, which are 100% British in their sourcing of fresh pork.”
