KellyBronze turkey turns 30

The KellyBronze slow-grown turkey has stood the test of time to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year.

Derek Kelly of Essex-based Kelly Turkey Farms sold the first KellyBronze turkey back in 1984 and it went on to buck the trend for white supermarket turkeys. The bronze turkeys are produced using traditional methods like slow growing processes, hand plucking, and providing woodland for the birds to forage in.

To acknowledge the landmark, Dereks son Paul Kelly and his family will be producing a special turkey for this years Christmas season, selling 30 pedigree birds from pure blood lines. KellyBronze said they will be grown in the woodland of the familys farm and fed on a blend of naked oats, flaked maize and wild nettles, giving an extra special and creamy finish and flavour.
