Bpex launches gammon campaign
Bpex are encouraging butchers and retailers to get behind their latest campaign to promote cooking with gammon all year round.
The organisation has launched a recipe book, Glorious Gammon, which includes 10 recipes from top chefs to encourage consumers to cook with gammon more often. Recipes include: jerk gammon (pictured) and gammon, apple and potato one-pan bake,
Bpex product marketing manager Claire Holland said: “There’s often a misconception that gammon can only be served with a fried egg or pineapple slice and chips, but in reality the deliciously strong-flavoured, cost-effective meat is incredibly versatile and can be served in many different ways, from soups and casseroles, to pies and warm salads. It is important that we begin to shift these attitudes and encourage more people to cook with gammon.”
A promotional kit is available for retailers and butchers. “Recipe cards, on-pack stickers, shelf strips and other in-store activation can help demonstrate the versatility of gammon and encourage shoppers to try it,” said Holland. “Butchers will also be able to order copies of the book and window vinyls to inspire customers to look again at cooking with gammon.
“Ultimately we want to encourage consumers to enjoy gammon throughout the year – not just on Boxing Day – and our collection of cost-effective recipe ideas is designed to do just that.”
