Meat traders federation considers name change
The National Federation of Meat and Food Traders (NFMT) could change its name to more accurately reflect its members.
The organisation represents butchers across all aspects of the trade – from high street butchers to manufacturing. To reflect this, the organisation said it has considered changing the name to The National Craft Butchers’ Association.
The NFMFT stated that the term ‘Craft Butcher’ is also referred to in European legislation “which the federation has used to its advantage on a number of occasions”.
Chief exectuive Roger Kelsey said members will be consulted over the change and urged that any suggestions be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
