New shredded chicken goes down well with retailers
Nythe Farm Kitchen has launched a new shredded chicken product, which has been received well by the retail sector.
The Somerset shop owners decided to make their own chicken products after supplying cooked chicken to the retail sector. The new product is available in 2kg plastic tubs, supplied chilled or individually frozen. The product was exhibited at the Food & Drink Expo at Birmingham’s NEC in March and received positive feedback from visitors.
Managing director Mike Dennis explainedt: “We have cooked chicken for some of the biggest names in the UK retail sector for many years, but this new shredded chicken is so good we felt we had to make it available to smaller, independent customers as well. We cook, pick and pack the chicken in a unique way that means it retains as much flavour and moisture as possible. This makes it the perfect chicken for sandwiches, pies and numerous other uses – our customers say their customers keep coming back for more because the flavour and texture are so good.
The shredded chicken will be an all-British product from Red Tractor-assured farmers as Dennis explained: “There is a huge amount of cheap chicken from other parts of the world available on the market, but we believe in using only British chicken from farm-assured producers – those who have the Red Tractor logo. This gives us huge confidence in the quality and provenance of the chicken as well. Our customers know that the consumer is looking for reassurance after the various food scandals of recent years, and using our chicken is a great way of demonstrating a commitment to quality, as well as the UK’s farming industry.”
