Rugby star prepares British butchers for Tri-Nations
Rugby hero Phil Vickery has been preparing the British team to do battle with the Aussies and the Kiwis in the Tri-Nations Butchers’ Challenge.
World Cup winner Vickery, who has a wealth of experience of dealing with the Antipodeans from his days on the rugby field, joined the butchers for a training session in the Midlands.
He said: “I am delighted to be here giving the team a pep-talk before the tour kicks in next week. I know what it’s like to play to against the Aussies and the Kiwis and I hope I’ve done all I can to put the boys through their paces as we look to give them a good thrashing on home turf. Butchery is hugely skilled and we want everyone to get behind our home-grown talent.”
The Tri-Nations competition, on home soil for the first time this year, will be held at the Great Yorkshire Show on 10 July. The teams from Australia, Britain and New Zealand will be judged in a two-hour challenge on cutting and innovation. Winners will be announced at the SuperMeat & Fish Awards in London on the same evening.
Team GB has also made an amusing video introducing the team, which can be viewed below.
