Kate Humble to address Welsh red meat conference

Television personality Kate Humble will speak at this year’s Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC) annual conference, it was announced today (22 July).

Humble is famed for her television work, most recently BBC farming programmes Lambing Live and Countryfile as well as Wild Shepherdess and Airport Live.

The announcement was made at the Royal Welsh Show. HCC chairman Dai Davies said: “HCC is delighted that Kate has agreed to speak at our conference. She will bring with her a unique perspective of our industry.”

Davies highlighted how Humble is well-placed to talk about farming in the media: “Not only can she provide an insight into the way the media portrays modern agriculture, but farming has appealed to her so much as a result of her television work that she has found it irresistible and taken the major step of going into the business herself.”

The conference is to be held in Llanelli, South Wales on 13 November 2014 and will bring together the Welsh red meat industry for a day of talks and workshops, including carcase classification and meat cuts advice and market intelligence briefings. Other guest speakers include HCC’s Italian representative Jeff Martin and HCC scholars Shaun Hall Jones and Thomas Jones.

“We have brought together an exciting line-up of speakers and a range of activities which I am sure will appeal to farmers and others involved in the red meat industry,” Davies concluded.
