BDCI welcomes bursary applications

The BDCI is now welcoming applications for its bursary programme announced earlier this month.

Meat industry charity the BDCI will offer two bursaries to the children or grandchildren of people connected to the meat industry. The bursaries will offer two students £5,000 a year towards their fees on a course related to the meat industry. The money is expected to cover around half the annual cost of college fees of a three- to four-year course.

The decision to offer scholarships is part of the charity’s modernisation and is in the process of changing its status to an incorporated body, a company limited by guarantee. Having received approval to change status from the Charity Commissioners on 3 April 2014, the process to transfer assets to the new BDCI Company is now well under way and should be completed by the end of 2014.

The closing date for applications for the 2015/16 academic year is 31 January 2015. Those wishing to apply should contact the BDCI in the first instance to request an application form. The BDCI can be contacted by telephone on 01727 896 094, by email or by post: BDCI Scholarship Scheme, 105 St Peter’s Street, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL1 3EJ.
