Deadline looming for meat and poultry awards

Processing companies across the meat sector are being urged to polish up their entries for one of the UK’s most prestigious competitions.

The Meat & Poultry Processing Awards 2015 gives businesses across the industry the chance to get some recognition for some of the excellent work they have been doing.

Ed Bedington, editor of Meat Trades Journal, which organises the awards, said: “The entry deadline is fast approaching and this year’s competition is starting to shape up. If you’re running a first-rate business or have some great people within the company, I’d urge you to get your entries in now.

“This competition is a great way to not just recognise excellence in your field, but also to reward the hard work that is going on behind the scenes.”

The 2015 competition also sees the introduction of a new category to the field, Product Developer of the Year. “This is aimed at people who are helping to drive innovation within the meat category and bringing excitement to their customers shelves,” Bedington added.

There are now eight categories to enter. These include:
• Processing Business of the Year
• Small Processing Business of the Year
• Exporter of the Year
• Supply Chain Initiative of the Year
• Environmental Initiative of the Year
• Plant Manager of the Year
• Young Processor of the Year
• Product Developer of the Year

The Meat & Poultry Processing Awards takes place at the Hilton Deansgate, Manchester on 26 February 2015. The event is being sponsored by Eblex, Multivac, Reiser, Sealed Air and Bizerba, while the drinks reception is sponsored by Marel and entertainment on the night is sponsored by Systems Integration.

The deadline for entry is 7 November. For more information contact Corie-Lea Evans on 01293 610439 or email her on corie-lea.evans@wrbm.com.
