Cargill director named Poultry Person of the Year
John Reed, agricultural director of Cargill’s European Poultry has been awarded the Poultry Person of the Year title.
The title is awarded by the British Poultry Council (BPC) and feed business company ForFarmers, which said that Reed had received a number of nominations.
“The generous nominations received outlined his tireless work to broaden the appeal and the profile of the poultry meat sector, and how he has helped develop the careers of others. We wholeheartedly agreed that this effort should be recognised and applauded,” said the judging panel.
James Hook, vice-chair of the BPC and managing director of poultry firm PD Hook, presented Reed with the trophy at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, where the Egg & Poultry Industry Conference (EPIC) is currently taking place.
On being presented with the award, Reed said: “I am delighted to receive such an award from my peers. There have been so many great winners who have devoted their lives to this industry – it is an honour to be named alongside them.”
