Online livestock auction firm offers free trading platform

Online livestock auction software company Livestock Live is now offering its online trading platform to customers for free.

The company said the software enables livestock marts and individual users to make considerable savings when buying and selling livestock. It added that marts across the UK can use it free of charge in contrast to having to pay a licence fee to use software, offering “a potential saving for marts of up to £10,000 per year”.

Brendan Hannigan, founder and CEO of Livestock Live, said: “Today’s announcement marks an important step for Livestock Live as we look to grow the number of livestock marts and individual users who benefit from the service. Farmers are becoming increasingly comfortable with the online buying space and I believe that this free-of-charge service will act as the catalyst for an expansion of online buying and selling of livestock across the country.
“We are committed to helping our customers improve their businesses and are already developing new features and functionality which will be released over the coming year and which will be free of charge to users.”

Livestock Live’s mart on-line auction module allows sellers to preload and advertise livestock for sale for future marts; set reserve price, estimate weight and grade of animals on-line; and upload images and videos of animals. Potential buyers can bid online in advance of the auction, as well as mart floor bidding on the day of the mart and online counter bidding from the pre-loaded online bids. The software also involves video streaming of the mart, and auto-invoicing, receipt and remittance.

Potential online buyers can also now contact sellers through an internal communications tool, and set up email alerts for animals and items matching users’ interests.
