Butcher’s Christmas sales leap by 30%
Catering butcher the Yorkshire Dales Meat Company (YDMC) has “smashed” all previous Christmas sales records this year, with a 30% increase on 2013.
YDMC said 2014’s Christmas sales had exceeded all expectations. The business is run by the Knox family, which has been farming near Patrick Brompton in Wensleydale for more than 100 years.
Finance director James Knox explained that it was the company’s specialised products and services that had made it so popular: “The Christmas period is, as you can imagine, an extremely busy period for chefs working across the UK.
“If you think about how long it takes to prepare pigs in blankets for a family of, say, six people, then think how long it would take chefs to prepare them for a whole restaurant full of people throughout the festive season.
“We’re here to make chefs’ lives easier – which is especially important at what is a manic time of year for them – and the turkey parcels are also a great time-saver, and delicious too.”
YDMC is providing a range of prepped products over the festive season, including turkey parcels; pork, leek and cranberry rings; a range of ‘pigs in blankets’ and chipolatas; stuffed turkey breast; and geese.
