Dalehead takes on scholarship placements
Dalehead Foods, a division of Tulip, has chosen two scholars from Harper Adams University to complete a year of placement with the company.
Tori Collishaw, a second-year BSc (Hons) Bioveterinary Science student and Lucy Barnes, a second-year BSc (Hons) Agribusiness student, will both receive £4,500 towards course fees.
During their placement the students will work alongside the company’s pig farmers, offering technical support, including assisting in running trials on commercial units, collecting and analysing data from these trials, producing reports and presenting outcomes. Moreover, the students will offer assistance in husbandry, nutrition, welfare, transport, business management, environmental issues and assurance.
Scholarships are reviewed at the end of the placement and, subject to the students’ performance, the company may choose to provide financial assistance for the final year of study. Successful scholars may also have the opportunity to apply for a place on Tulip’s Graduate Management Training Programme, which offers the opportunity of employment following graduation.
Dalehead Foods also runs a Fresh Start Academy, which aims to help young people wanting to set up a pig farming and production business in the UK.
