BDCI announces new festival chairman

The Butchers’ and Drovers’ Charitable Institution (BDCI) has appointed head of buying Rose Price as its new festival chairman.

Rose has a wealth of knowledge in the meat industry, having worked as a trainee butcher at Bishops Food Stores, before attending Smithfield College where she picked up a number of meat qualifications. She then spent time in the abattoir sector, before ending up in retail, initially specialising in meat procurement.

The BDCI said that Price has always taken a keen interest in the charitable institution. She added: “It is real honour and privileged to take on this role. It provides me with an opportunity to add value to the work of the BDCI.”

The new festival chair replaces Norman Hatcliff, who led a number of events in 2014, including a clay pigeon shoot, a gala food and wine eveving, and a golf day as well as the Annual Festival Dinner. Price said: “Norman was an influential festival chairman and will be a challenging act to follow.”
