Nigel Hofmann, who runs Hofmann's in Wakefield, Yorkshire beat off strong competition from top sausage-makers across the country to take the title with his traditional pork sausage

Impressing the judges with its consistently strong performance throughout the competition. Nigel praised fellow finalists and was delighted with his win saying "It has been absolutely fantastic - we've been in the Champion of Champions final for...well this is the fourth time we're been in it. It has been hard work, but it's the ultimate accolade - it's like winning the world cup!"

This year saw 22 butchers competing for the title giving the judges a tough challenge to pick the overall winner. Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: "Champion of Champions is always a hotly contested title and the judges were taking no prisoners. But the winner this year stood out head and shoulders above the rest, and his sausage proves that when it's done as well as that, it's hard to beat a traditional pork sausage."
