All Wales champion named
Butchers from north and south Wales went head-to-head at the Royal Welsh Show to battle for the title of All Wales champion across 12 product categories.
The Product Evaluation All Wales Final, organised by HCC at the show in Builth Wells last month, saw the best butchers in Wales honoured for their hard work. The categories ranged from ready meals to speciality sausage.
Winners on the day were:

? Speciality pie (hot) - champion, Vaughans Butchers, Penyffordd; reserve, Edwards Cwmbran, Pontnewydd
? Speciality pie (cold) - champion, OE Metcalfe, Conwy; reserve, Bethesda Farm Shop, Bethesda, Pembrokeshire
? Barbecue product - champion, Rikki Lloyd, Welshpool; reserve, Morgans Butchers, Aberystwyth
? Ready meals - champion, ET Jones, Anglesey; reserve, Paul Cole, Neath
? Beef burger - champion, Rikki Lloyd, Welshpool; reserve, The Prime Cut, Killay, Swansea
? Lamb burger - champion, Vaughans Butchers, Penyffordd; reserve, Phillip Tucker, Penclawdd, Swansea
? Pork burger - champion,
? KE Taylor, Criccieth, Gwynedd; reserve, Palfrey's, Newport
? Home-cured bacon - champion, FR Kennedy & Son, Holywell, Flintshire; reserve, Rattray Butchers, Aberystwyth

While heats had previously been held around Wales to establish the best product in each category from north and south, Graham Titchener, marketing executive with HCC, said all entries were graded and then awarded a Gold, Silver or Bronze award.
Clinton Roberts, of Ponty Butchers in Pontardawe, Swansea, entered 20 different products and received 16 Gold awards, six Silver and six Bronze. He said his success allowed him to generate a great deal of local press coverage.
"The evaluations allow all the butchers taking part the chance to promote their success to their customers," added Titchener.
