Welsh butcher scoops two local awards
Meat Trades Journal’s Butcher’s Shop of the Year, Edward’s of Conwy, has received two business awards in a local competition.
Head-butcher Ieuan Edwards won the Conwy County Business Award for ‘Business Person of the Year’, while apprentice Michael Algieri won the joint title of ‘Apprentice of the Year’.
Ieuan Edwards commented on the success: “Our company prides itself on knowing the Art of Butchery inside out and being the best in Britain. To do this we use only the most highly esteemed traditional methods – quite a learning curve if you’re the new kid on the block!
“As fewer and fewer apprentices are choosing to become butchers, we are lucky to have found such a fantastic apprentice who is truly dedicated to becoming a Master Craftsman. Michael only joined us in 2013, but has already become an invaluable member of the team.”
2015 was just the second year of the Conwy Business Awards which recognises and celebrates business individuals and companies who have made a real impact in the region and globally. The now highly regarded event attracted more than 300 attendees from across the county.
