Scottish meat processor reports healthy performance
Scottish food processor Campbells Prime Meat has posted a strong set of financial results for 2014, with sales and profits in healthy growth.
The processor, which supplies fresh meat, fish and deli products to foodservice customers and Aldi, saw turnover grow 2.7% to £56.7m in the year ending 31 December 2014, while operating profit shot up 61.6% to £2.8m, according to the annual report and financial results posted to Companies House.
Turnover at the main Linlithgow site increased 9.5% year on year.
“The higher margin associated with this business has delivered a substantial increase in operating profit on a cost base which has remained static, despite the small increase in headcount,” managing director Christopher Campbell said.
The directors said they were pleased with the profitability of the business and added it was well placed to take advantage of improving economic circumstances.
