News in brief
Specialist sausage manufacturer Graham White & Co has recently gained its A grade BRC higher level accreditation.
Originally founded in Ewell, Surrey in 1935, the company's reputation for supplying high quality pork products quickly grew. In 1991, having outgrown the Ewell site, a purpose built manufacturing plant was built in Merton, Surrey and in 1999 the company expanded into an adjacent unit, doubling the size of the factory. In 2005 they won the National Meat Awards for Britain's Best Sausage.
The National Beef Association has called on producers to keep an eye out for imported beef in their local supermarkets. The NBA is urging farmers to write to supermarket regional head offices if they find imported beef mixed in with British beef.
Norfolk's food and drink producers are hoping to catch the attention of the buyers at a special trade event next month. A wide range of local produce will be on display at Lynford Hall, near Thetford, on Wednesday, 4 October, reflecting Norfolk's varied landscape and coast. The Eat and Drink Norfolk event will feature products ranging from bacon and ham to rare breed meats.
