TV chef and butcher partnership raises healthy eating awareness
A partnership between Scottish Q Guild butcher S Collins & Son and Irish celebrity chef Adrian Martin has helped raise awareness of healthy eating through a cookery roadshow.
Stewart Collins, managing partner at S Collins & Son in Muirhead, invited Martin to visit and give cookery masterclasses to children across a three-day programme. The chef, who presents Chef Adrian – The Craft Butcher, visited six primary schools and three secondary schools across the region.
He also presented at two public cooking demo fundraisers: one at Stepps Parish Church, Glasgow, which raised £900 for the church roof fund and one at The Knights of St Columba which raised £200 for The Craighalbert Centre in Cumbernauld.
Collins said: “Young people and their teachers, along with adults at the sell-out evening sessions, all said they learned a great deal, not only about cooking and healthy eating, but also about the value of using recipes that utilise top-quality locally produced ingredients and meat products, an ethos that remains integral to the S Collins & Son philosophy.”
He added that they were planning a return visit by the chef later this year.
