National Meat Products Champion crowned

Mike Maloney of Maloney’s Country Butchers & Bakers has been crowned National Meat Products Champion 2015. 

His pork pie helped steer him to victory at the National Federation of Meat & Food Traders’ (NFMFT) National Meat Products Competition.

Maloney also won two category awards, seven gold and three silver awards for a variety of pies and bacon products.

Overall, two trophies, nineteen salvers, 146 gold, 107 silver and 23 bronze certificates were won at the competition, which attracted more than 40 entrants with a total of 300 products.

Also victorious was Craig Finch, who took the trophy for Supreme Sausage Champion with his Aussie Lamb Speciality Sausage plus three golds for his sausages.

NFMFT president Jim Sperring said: “This year’s entries have got to be the best yet in showing innovation, as well as technical skill, producing products for ever-demanding customers constantly looking for convenient high-quality products.”
