Northern Irish food directors nominated for top award

Directors from two of Northern Ireland’s largest companies, Moy Park and Dunbia - both from the food industry, have been recognised for their commitment to the sector.

The directors have been shortlisted for the prestigious UK award for excellence.

Alan McKeown, supply chain director at Dunbia, has been nominated in the Young Director of the Year category. Employing over 3,000 people Dunbia is the country’s biggest meat and pork processor. Though headquartered in Dungannon, County Tyrone, it also has operations in the Republic of Ireland and the Netherlands, whilst exporting meat products to more than 40 countries.

Meanwhile, Moy Park’s HR director Mike Mullan has been nominated in the Leadership in Corporate Responsibility category. The company is the region’s single biggest company and can boast it is one of Europe’s largest poultry processors. Headquartered in Craigavon in County Armagh, Moy Park has over 5,000 employees and is now owned by the world’s largest processor – Brazil’s JBS.

The awards will be announced at a gala dinner in London on 23 October.
