Organic farm expands empire

Award-winning Eversfield Organic Farm has announced that it has acquired Dorset Farms for an undisclosed sum. This transaction has elevated the business to become one of the nation’s biggest brands in providing organic and free-range products.

It is hoped that this business move will deliver a 30% increase in turnover for Eversfield over the next 12 months, while building its team to 36 people across the two sites.

“There is a great synergy between Dorset Farms and Eversfield Organic, as two businesses that have historically operated to provide produce that is an accessible option for people who are passionate about what they eat and where it originates from,” said the business’ director Mark Bury.

Dorset Farms is known for using free-range and organic West Country pigs to deliver high-quality hams and bacons to selected Waitrose stores, independent food retailers and farm shops, as well as its online platform. Certified by the Soil Association, Dorset Farms uses natural marinades and ingredients in creating their products.

Bury added: “The exciting addition of Dorset Farms’ delicious ham and bacon to the Eversfield Organic range now means that our customers can easily order a wider variety of products conveniently and cost-effectively through our online shop.”

Devon-based Eversfield Organic Farm was founded in 2002 by Bury, alongside his children Hamish and Anna, with the aim of producing high-quality organic meat. The business’ goal was to raise healthy and happy animals on the 450-acre organic farm. The animals on the farm are brought up on grass and have the privilege of roaming free, resulting in the best-quality end-product.

“As an ambitious business, we are always looking for opportunities to continue making our offering a market-leading proposition and this merger will greatly complement the growing range of organic meat, vegetable boxes, dairy, handmade meals and deli items that we currently provide,” concluded Bury.
