Young butcher recognised at Somerset Business of the Year awards
A Somerset butcher has been named a finalist in the local Business of the Year awards.
Sam King, operations manager at Jon Thorner’s in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, has been shortlisted in the Young Business Employee of the Year category. The results will be revealed on 23 October.
King was previously crowned winner at the Young Butchers Creative Meat Display Competition at the Dalziel Butchers Show in 2014.
Business owner Jon Thorner said of King: “Sam has always been an enthusiastic employee. His desire to succeed and to drive sales within the business brought him closer to my attention. He has a strong sense of customer service, creating a special bond and knowledge between himself and our customers, so he was the perfect candidate when a counter butcher manager position became available within the business. And, since then, he has been promoted to his current role. He would really be deserving of the accolade of Young Employee of the Year.”
Jon Thorner’s is a butchery business which supplies fresh meat and a range of chef made products to retailers and wholesalers. It currently supplies customers across the country, including national online retailer Ocado, The National Trust, The Co-operative and Center Parcs.
