Ginsters searches for the country’s biggest football fan

Savoury pastry brand Ginsters is celebrating outstanding football fans with a new on-pack promotion. 

Running until 8 May, the promotion is designed to help retailers increase sales and to drive consumer engagement. An ultimate ‘Match Day Hero’ will be crowned and awarded with £10,000.

Twenty million packs across all the company’s core savoury lines, including slices, pasties and sausage rolls, will feature the competition and are available across multiple and impulse channels.

“The promotion is an exciting extension of our ongoing sponsorship with the Football League Tonight show, and a great way of celebrating our consumers’ love of the game,” said Linda Evans, sales and marketing director for Ginsters.

Entrants will be required to nominate themselves or a friend for the chance to be crowned the ‘Match Day Hero’ by uploading an amusing picture or video to, to demonstrate why they think they are the nation’s ultimate football fan.

“Stocking the core ‘Match Day Hero’ promotional range, which includes our best-selling Original Cornish Pasty, Peppered Steak Slice and Large Sausage Roll, will provide retailers with a great opportunity to boost sales,” added Evans.

As a part of the promotional activity, every 12 weeks Ginsters will be giving away a full ‘footie front room’ prize package. This includes a Ginsters mini-fridge, 55-inch TV and a sofa. A total of 30,000 Ginsters sausage rolls will also be on offer on an instant win basis.
