Pig industry gains seven new young students
The Pig Industry Scholarship has attracted seven new bright students to its training scheme.
The seven Harper Adams University students will join their sponsoring companies in the summer for a 12-month placement to help prepare them for a career in the pig industry.
Returning scholars were joined by the new recruits at a presentation at the college to celebrate their achievements. Two of the 2013 scholars were awarded final-year funding and will return to their sponsor companies upon graduation.
“It’s great to be at Harper Adams University celebrating the success of the pig industry scholars in what is now the third year of the initiative,” said Pig Industry Scholarship chairman Nick Major of ForFarmers, who also presented certificates of achievement to students.
“It is vital for the future of the industry that we are able to attract highly skilled and motivated people into it and this scheme has already helped achieve that objective.
“I would also like to thank the sponsoring companies, without whom we would not be able to offer these excellent opportunities.”
The scholarship provides students with a variety of career opportunities across the pig industry to those enrolled at Harper Adams. Companies seeking further information about offering a scholarship should contact Sam Bowsher on 020 6747 8801 or email Samantha.email@example.com.
