Industry expands technical knowledge at AHDB Beef & Lamb masterclass

Professionals from the meat industry have been given the opportunity to improve their technical knowledge with the help of AHDB Beef & Lamb.

The levy board delivered a Meat Quality Masterclass in Warwickshire, attended by 18 delegates, designed to give a greater understanding of meat quality, from farm to fork.

Since April 2015, this is the third of the two-day courses. “We launched the meat masterclasses last year after identifying a gap in the market for this type of training,” said Dr Phil Hadley, head of global supply chain development at AHDB Beef & Lamb.

Experts at the workshop took the opportunity to highlight to delegates the latest developments involved in controlling the quality of meat. Attendees included butchers, processors and representatives from the foodservice and halal sectors.

“From the outset the classes have proved incredibly popular, with places quickly snapped up for each of the sessions we have held,” added Hadley.

“The courses add value to those working in these particular parts of the supply chain and the popularity of our latest event underlined this.

“Not only do they provide a forum for those in the industry to discuss new developments in ensuring meat quality is maintained, but practical sessions enable delegates to get hands-on with some of the technology used in the industry.”

The next course is due to take place from 17-18 May. Those who express interest should contact 0870 608 6610 or email Selma.todd@ahdb.org.uk
