north Wales' best sausage crowned
It was a matter of first time lucky for one Ardudwy butcher recently when he scooped the prize for the best sausage in north Wales at his first attempt.
Paul Wellings of London House Stores Ltd Butchers, Dyffryn Ardudwy was ecstatic to be crowned with the supreme sausage champion for his traditional pork sausage at the north Wales heat of Hybu Cig Cymru / Meat Promotion Wales' (HCC) annual awards for butchers, despite it being the first time he had ever entered the competition.
Mr Wellings said: "I was delighted to win the prize for the supreme sausage at my first attempt. I am sure this top prize will go a long way in increasing sales of sausages at my shop and assuring my customers that the sausages that they buy here are quality products."
The awards for Innovation and Excellence in Meat Products were held last week at Venue Cymru, The Promenade, Llandudno and HCC was very pleased with the quality and innovation shown in all categories.
Graham Titchener, HCC's marketing executive, said: "The quality of the north Wales entries were of a very high standard and we were delighted to have received so many entries this year.
"It was also nice to see a new butcher winning the top award on the night which goes to show that the event is highly regarded with the butchers.
"Their entries showcase the amazing range of creative and innovative products produced by Wales' independent butchers, all designed with the consumer in mind."
